Flora and Fauna United(Project Updates)

MEAHLVANAM TRUST is on a current project “Flora and Fauna United” to create a flourishing biodiversity model centered on bringing back native flora and fauna through eco-restoration strategy. Set on a 7-acre land along the serene Vamanapuram river bank in Kadakkavur village near Trivandrum, Kerala, our initiative seeks to directly benefit the region’s indigenous plant, trees and animal species from grasses to trees, from insects to birds and mammals which have declined over the years. And to inspire collective actions by training and empowering our future generations to recognize the value of biodiversity and actively protect ecosystems to create better future impact.

The Project Site Operating Without Electricity, this Solar-Powered Solution will Align with Our Commitment to Renewable Energy and Sustainable Farming Practices.

Restoration of Old Damaged Overhead Water Tank: As part of the water management strategy, the old and damaged overhead water tank on-site was carefully restored for full functionality. Restoration Work was carried out by Masons from Cost ford Architecture Firm, Trivandrum. This restoration was crucial to support the newly installed solar water pump system which will lift water from the pond and stores it in this tank for irrigation. Repairing the existing infrastructure, rather than building a new tank was a cost-effective and sustainable choice. The restored tank plays vital role in ensuring consistent water availability for farming, plantation activities and conservation efforts across the site.
