ABOUT COFOUNDER’S
Maria Juliet and Joseph Vijay, as a married couple, followed a shared vision to restore nature and protect lives. After a decade in biotechnology research, we moved from our research careers in 2013 to embrace rural living and dedicate ourselves to ecological restoration. We founded Meahlvanam Trust registered in 2019 in Trichy District, Tamil Nadu, India initially focusing on grassroots initiatives like animal rescue & care, water body revival, native tree planting, sustainable farming, and preserving indigenous cow breeds. We also inspire young minds through nature-based learning. Along the way, a few like-minded individuals have joined our path, supporting our mission. To deepen our impact, one of us (Maria Juliet) graduated from Kanthari (2024 Batch), a global institute for training social visionaries. Our current new project to create a Biodiversity Model through Ecorestoration is at Kadakkavur, Trivandrum District, Kerala.
What we do
We are dedicated to conserving biodiversity through eco-restoration, fostering the harmonious coexistence of all lives. Our mission is to revive native flora and fauna once abundant in the region. We are currently building a biodiversity model that restores habitats and microhabitats, enabling ecosystems to thrive naturally.

Vision
Ecosystems flourishing with biodiversity of native flora and fauna where microhabitats thrive within every habitat and lives coexist in balance.
Mission
To conserve biodiversity of flora and fauna by ecorestoration, favoring habitats and microhabitats.
Mindset change of future generation through ecology learning, participatory conservation activities and training for sustainability practices.

OUR OBJECTIVES

Nature Learning and Inclusivity
Engage children of all abilities in hands-on experiences with nature, nurturing a strong sense of connection and shared responsibility for protecting ecosystems and recognizing the value of interconnections of all lives.

Sustainable Agriculture and Traditional Knowledge
Demonstrate harmony between farming and biodiversity by integrating natural practices, enriching soil health and reviving traditional wisdom for community sustainability

Biodiversity Conservation and Ecorestoration
Restore ecosystems to their natural state, favoring habitats, creating microhabitats that nurture biodiversity and strengthen ecological interactions.

Native Species Recovery
Restoring declining native species of trees, plants and their associated fauna to rebuild resilient ecosystems.
